Our co-founders met whilst studying for their Master’s degrees in Occupational Psychology at Birkbeck University, London. They identified the need for improved career support for young people. With a desire to offer psychology inspired career guidance, UMi was born.
They are both stage one qualified in Occupational Psychology and accredited Occupational Test Users (Levels A/B) for the BPS. They are also members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Association for Business Psychology (ABP). And both have a BSc in Psychology and Sociology.
“For us, UMi is something which is bringing together the best parts of our experiences and careers to date and tapping into a real need for young people to know and do more.”
Martyn Clews BSc, MSc, MBPsS
Prior to UMi, Martyn worked as a Detective within the Metropolitan police in London for over a decade. He specialised in working with young people impacted by gang violence. His drive to co-create UMi came from working with young people facing difficult life situations. It remains his desire to use Psychology inspired solutions to help young people to make the best life choices possible. Martyn is also currently engaged in Change Consultancy.
